What are Wax Melts?
Wax melts have become more and more popular over the last few years, I personally sell more melts than any other of my products. So what are wax melts and why does everyone love them?
Wax melts are scented pieces of wax designed to be melted in a warmer or melter to release their fragrance. They are a popular alternative to traditional candles and come in various shapes and sizes. Different types of wax can be used, but the wax used in our melts at Flicker & Scent is soy as this is natural and clean burning, as opposed to paraffin wax that can let off harmful chemicals.
To use wax melts, you place a wax melt in the top of a wax warmer or melter, which is usually heated by a tea light, light bulb or an electric element. As the wax melts, it releases its fragrance into the air, creating a pleasant aroma in the surrounding space. Wax melts are often used to add ambiance and fragrance to homes, offices, or other living spaces.

One advantage of wax melts is that they can be easily switched for different scents without the need to replace an entire candle. Affordable & Long Lasting Fragrance
Wax melts are the most economical way of adding fragrance to your space, compared to candles. Working out at approximately £1 or less per melt you don’t need to spend a lot to try different fragrances. The wax melts can be used multiple times until the fragrance has burnt off. Each melt has an approximate burn time of approx. 8 hours so a bag of 5 will give round about 40 hours total burn time.
Safety
Some people prefer wax melts because they eliminate the need for an open flame (if using an electric burner), making them a safer option in certain situations for example if you have pets or young children. Remember, if using a tea light burner, you can only use a four hour tealight, as any stroger flame can cause the wax to overheat or the burner to crack.
Eco Friendly
Depending where you purchase the melts from. they do tend to be more eco friendly and produce less waste. There is no need for containers as with candles and the wax melt burners can last for many years. Here at Flicker & Scent we package the melts in glassine bags that are biodegradable and planet friendly. We also use responsibly sourced soy wax which a sustainable source, so kinder to the environment than paraffin wax.

How to use Wax Melts
Wax melts are quick and simple to use. Pop one or two wax melts in the top of your burner, light an unscented 4 hour tealight and place in the bottom of the burner.
Within 15 minutes the scent will fill your space!
The wax will solidify once the tealight is extinguished, but you can burn the melts a few times (approx. 8 hours of fragrance per melt)
Once the fragrance has depleted, remove the solid wax by either pressing firmly and sliding the wax disc out. Alternatively light the tealight for a few seconds, extinguish, then slip the softened wax out.
